Subaru WRX STI Bike Rack – The SeaSucker Talon

Jonathan and his wingless Subaru WRX STI

Subaru WRX STI and SeaSucker Talon Bike RackJonathan is a keen recreational mountain bike rider from Middleton Grange NSW who was looking for a Subaru WRX STI Bike Rack. He contacted us after reading our post on Gerard’s Subaru WRX STI with a SeaSucker Mini Bomber.  After discussing his needs we recommended the SeaSucker Talon and Grip Sports 15 mm Fork Adapter.

SeaSucker Talon Mounting Locations

After a few calls, we identified the optimal location that would suit Jonathan’s needs. Locating the SeaSucker Talon main board between the front windscreen and the roof was a good compromise. The location allows him to mount and dismount his bike from the curb and install the bike rack in under 2 minutes. To explore the many mounting locations for sedan vehicles, please click here

Customer Feedback

A few weeks later Jonathan sent us these photos and his feedback below.

Subaru WRX STI and SeaSucker Talon Bike RackExcellent service – bought on the day and then delivered next day!. I bought the 2016 Talon model and is very impressed with the power of its vacuum. I tested it first without load and it held suction for more than 12 hours. If I didn’t remove it, it will probably keep on suction. When removed, there was no paint damage and no circle marks! When I put on the bike and travelled by car for 22kms doing 70kph average, it held quite well. I only noticed some minor movements during bumpy sections of the road. I think it is because the 15mm fork grip axle through adapter I was using to attach to the default quick release lever on the Talon is not 100% stable even if it is locked in pretty tight. Note sure how I can improve its stability but I can live with it.

We since had a chat with Jonathan and helped him to apply more tension when using the Grip Sports Fork Adapter. This is done by rotating the quick release lever clockwise after it is set to its lock position. When removing his bike Jonathan rotates the lever anti clock wise by the same amount before unlocking the quick release.
