Talon Bike Rack Panoramic Roof Mount - Jaguar XE

SeaSucker vacuum mounts will attach to glass as well as steel, aluminium, carbon fibre and more. Our customer Michael mounted the Talon mainboard on the Panoramic Roof with the rear wheel strap mounted on the back window. Furthermore, glass is an ideal surface due to its durability.

We love hearing from our customers long after their initial purchase. Michael contacted us recently after purchasing his SeaSucker Talon 1-Bike Rack four years ago.  Since then he has used his bike rack over 200 times. Therefore, this averages out to using the bike rack weekly for four years.

This is another great example of a Panoramic Roof Mount. Mounting the SeaSucker Talon on a panoramic roof is easy. In fact, glass mounting has the added advantage of being a surface that won't scratch easily.  It's important to clean both surfaces before installing your bike rack. This is the most common mounting location for most sedans. With roof mounting the preferred location is on the left-hand side. This makes mounting and dismounting your bike safer as it places you on the kerbside. Furthermore, the SeaSucker Talon mainboard needs to be located close to the roof folds.

In this example, Michael mounted the mainboard just behind the windscreen. To ensure the rear wheel strap sits near a fold the bike rack should be mounted on the left or right-hand-side of the roof. This will ensure the rear wheel strap is located near one of the two folds that run down the length of the roof. To take a closer look at Michael's experience please click here

This is an interesting example of a roof-mounted SeaSucker Talon. Firstly, the BMW M6 has a carbon fibre roof. Subsequently, this is a great surface for mounting the SeaSucker Talon. Whilst we always recommend mounting the bike rack mainboard and rear-wheel strap nearest the roof folds, this car has an additional roof fold nearest the centre. As a result, this makes an ideal location to mount the SeaSucker Talon mainboard. To find out more about James’s experience with the SeaSucker Talon, please click here.

Mounting the SeaSucker Talon on the roof/rear window and boot lid provides greater rigidity. It also provides good visibility from within the vehicle and minimises overall height. Subsequently, this makes it easier to fit under carports and garages.

In this example, we would move the SeaSucker Talon mainboard further back, so the vacuum mounts are mounted partially on the roof and on the rear window. Subsequently, this will move the rear wheel strap closer to the rear edge of the boot. As a result, it places both the mainboard and the rear wheel strap closest to where the folds are situated. Just want to thank SeaSucker, LLC for providing the photos. This is a typical installation where a portion of the bike rack is on the mainboard and portion is the on the roof. The SeaSucker Talon has this advantage over the other bike racks in the SeaSucker range.

Admittedly, this is a promotional photo, we do not recommend sitting on your bike when its on the car. It does, however, demonstrate the ridiculous holding power of SeaSucker Bike Racks, but we digress.

Another thing to consider is the actual location. We recommend mounting the bike rack on the car's "kerbside". Therefore, for a right-hand drive car, you would mount it on the left-hand side. This makes mounting and dismounting the bike much safer. Conversely, mounting your bike on the drivers-side means you are exposed to oncoming traffic when the car is parked on the side of the road.

Another advantage of mounting the bike rack kerbside is the SeaSucker Talon mainboard and the rear wheel strap are located nearest the folds on the roof. Subsequently, this is where the greatest roof strength lies. If you would like to know more about this car, please click here

Attaching the SeaSucker Talon Bike Rack to the roof and windscreen is also an option. The 1/2? HDPE combined with the cushioning from the vacuum pads provides great flexibility. This enables the bike rack to mould to the roofline of your vehicle. SeaSucker Vacuum Mounts will work on glass, steel, fibreglass, carbon fibre and lots of other surfaces.

The Subaru WRX is a popular choice with our customers. Furthermore, It lends itself well to mounting the SeaSucker Talon in this configuration. To find out more about Jonathan's car and his feedback, please click here
