We have been contacted numerous times by customers looking for a VHF / UHF Antenna Roof Mount for their car or boat. Subsequently, we began to ask questions. What’s wrong with the current antenna mounting systems? What problems are our customer’s trying to fix? As a result, we came up with a short list of issues and requirements.

Our customers are looking for a VHF / UHF Antenna Roof Mount that does not require drilling holes. They didn’t like the magnetic antenna mounts as they are prone to scratching the paintwork. Same applies when using a clamp on antenna mount. They were looking for a solution that can be easily installed when needed then removed once finished. Sounds like a job for SeaSucker Vacuum Mounts.

Our first Prototype High-Gain and Low-Gain VHF Antenna Roof Mount

After some time Google searching as well as looking at what we had available we came up with a prototype VHF / UHF Antenna Roof Mount. We found a “Bull Bar CB Antenna Bracket” that could be easily adapted to a SeaSucker Vacuum Mount. We then purchased a High-Gain and Low-Gain VHF Antenna so we could assemble the prototypes.

The High-Gain Antenna is approx 87 cm long, for this we chose the SeaSucker 152 mm (6″) Vacuum Mount. With 90 kg of direct pull strength and a 32 kg load carrying capacity, it has plenty of muscle to keep this antenna secure. For the Low-Gain Antenna, we chose the SeaSucker 114 mm Vacuum Mount.

Customer Feedback

Over the next month, we will test both VHF / UHF Antenna Roof Mounts on various cars. Subsequently, we developed a VHF / UHF Antenna Window Mount. We will feature this product in our next post. Meanwhile, we encourage everyone to provide their feedback on this product. What do think of this as a new product? If we released this as a product on our website would you like the option of being able to purchase the antenna at the same time? What would you change in terms of its overall design? We look forward to your comments and feedback.
