BMW M3 Convertible Bike Rack – The SeaSucker Talon

Ian was in the market for a BMW M3 Convertible Bike Rack. After some research, Ian discovered SeaSucker Bike Racks.  Upon checking out our library of customer’s cars on our blog Ian contacted us to discuss his options. As the BMW M3 Convertible has an all-metal folding roof we could utilise the folding roof to mount a bike rack. We recommended the SeaSucker Talon 1-Bike Rack based on Ian’s needs.

As mentioned the BMW M3 Convertible has an all-metal folding roof. With respect to Ian, he also wanted to minimise overall height. Subsequently, this makes it easier to fit under driveways and carports.  We also recommended installing the Seasucker Talon mainboard partially on the back window and the top of the roof. We also suggested mounting the bike rack on the left-hand side of the car as this makes mounting and dismounting the bike much safer. Subsequently, the rear wheel strap is installed just in front of the rear spoiler.

Customer Feedback

Shortly after receiving his bike rack, Ian sent us these photos and his feedback. “I mounted it lower at the back as I’m now able to just make it into my garage without having to take the bike off, makes early morning getaways easier and not waking up neighbours in the process.

I have a similar situation with my BMW 4 series convertible. I saw a neighbor with the Talon on his Porsche 911, he recommended it but I have been very wary of lateral forces damaging top. I will check back once I receive the Talon with some more detailed photos if appropriate.

    1. Hi,
Thanks for your feedback. No issue using the SeaSucker Talon on a BMW 4 series convertible as long as this car has a metal folding roof as it has enough rigidity and strength to transport one bike. Having said this, we also make a single bike rack specifically for convertibles that enables the customer to transport their bike on the boot lid of a convertible. This is the SeaSucker Komodo which also features adjustable mounting arms. The only downside is cost. The SeaSucker Komodo retails for AUS$2,150.00. The high cost is due to the high number of machining hours required to produce the custom frame.
