New Product – The Off-Road & Marine Tablet Cradle Mount

We recently upgraded our Off-Road & Marine Tablet Mount with 1.5″ Balls & Arms by RAM Mounts. It was soon after this Marty contacted us looking for a solution to mount an iPad Pro in his boat. Marty had also read our article “iPad as a Boat GPS / Chart-plotter, Radar & Sounder – Part 1”. His goal was to use the iPad Pro in the same manner.

Unfortunately, the Off-Road & Marine Tablet Mount won’t work with the iPad Pro.  This is due to the Apple logo not being a perfect seal. As a result, our Vacuum Mounts will not hold vacuum and sucks air through the logo. As a result, the Off-Road & Marine Tablet Cradle Mount was born.

After discussing Marty’s requirements we decided to prototype a new product using the RAM Mounts Tab Tite Tablet Cradles. The added benefit of using the Ram Mounts Cradles is they accommodate a large selection of Tablet Cases, Skins and Sleeves. With Marty’s input, we assembled the first prototype and sent it to him for testing. 

After installing the Off-Road & Marine Tablet Cradle Mount in his boat Marty put it through its paces. He installed the Navionics software so he can use his Ipad Pro as a Marine GPS / Chartplotter. The first field test was conducted in 25-knot winds. The Off-Road & Marine Tablet Cradle Mount kept the iPad Pro super steady with little to no vibration. Subsequently, it can be mounted in various locations without drilling holes.
