Ford Everest Bike Rack – The SeaSucker Talon

Background

Mark is a keen road cyclist and mountain biker who also loves his cars. With several cars in the garage, Mark was looking for a bike rack that would work on all his cars. Having said this, Mark’s priority was a Ford Everest Bike Rack. After researching various options Mark contacted us for advice.

Mark’s requirement was a bike rack that works on a Ford Everest, a Ford Mustang and a Datsun 240z. Furthermore, the bike rack must transport both a road bike and a mountain bike.

The Solution – The SeaSucker Talon

With Mark’s needs defined we suggested the SeaSucker Talon 1-Bike Rack. To accommodate Mark’s road bike we also suggested the SeaSucker HUSKE 12 mm x 100 mm through-axle plugs. Furthermore, to transport the mountain bike Mark would also need the SeaSucker HUSKE 15 mm x 100 mm through-axle plugs.

Mounting Location

Mark’s Ford Everest has side steps which makes it easier to mount the bike on the roof. Furthermore, the car also has a panoramic roof. Consequently, Mark chose to mount the SeaSucker Talon main board on the opening section of the panoramic roof. This is a perfectly acceptable mounting location, just keep in mind not to open the panoramic roof with the bike rack attached.

The rear wheel strap is located on the fixed portion of the panoramic roof. The distance between the mainboard and the rear wheel strap is approx 1.1 to 1.2 metres. Subsequently, this is determined by the length of the bike. The measurement is taken from the forks to the back of the frame.

Thanks, Mark for sending us the photos and sharing your experience.
